Description
Henry All-Weather .45-70 Side Gate (H010GAW)
We do produce, hands down, some of the best-looking lever action rifles on the market with our brass and silver models, but we appreciate the more utilitarian side of life as well. For everyday life in the truck, on the farm, and through the woods, the hard-working All-Weather finish is a must-have.
Built for a tough world, we use a satin hard chrome plating that’s permanently bonded to the steel underneath that doesn’t flake, chip, peel, and has a corrosion resistance that actually exceeds some stainless steel. Not only does this increase surface hardness, but it also reduces friction on moving parts to take our already smooth action to the next level. Details are important, so even the screws are stainless.
While we remain partial to our genuine American walnut stocks, we’ve opted for a stained hardwood with a carefully engineered coating that is formulated to stand up to wear, tear, scratches, moisture, temperature variations, and the angst of the various “character marks” that an everyday outdoor tool will inevitably pick up during its lifetime. This is the finish you want for a rifle that might be “rode hard and put away wet.”
These two Henry offerings are essentially the same as their blued steel counterparts in profile and general dimensions. The .30-30 features a 20” round barrel, straight-wrist stock, 5-shot magazine capacity, and the .45-70 sports an 18.4” round barrel, a pistol-grip stock, and a 4-shot magazine. Both rifles come with the same adjustable semi-buckhorn rear and brass bead front sights. The receivers are drilled and tapped for a scope, and both come with sling swivel studs and ventilated rubber recoil pads installed.
For some added utility, these rifles are configured with a side loading gate to make loading and keeping the magazine topped off as easy as possible. However, the magazine tube is still removable for safe, easy unloading.
The .30-30 is the preeminent caliber of choice for millions of deer hunters, while .45-70 will drop anything in the Lower 48 and even stop dangerous Alaskan game in its tracks. With our other rifles and shotguns, the beauty is in the grain of the American walnut. With the All-Weather rifles, the beauty is in their extreme durability.
